Copper Cascades

The water that forms the Copper Cascades first appears from underneath a bluff near the top of the Cumberland Plateau and then tumbles stairstep down the mountain to join the Caney Fork 300 feet below. The Cascades are so named because the water in them supposedly turns everything it touches to copper. This may be due to high concentrations of tannic acid in the water.
